About Jeffrey

Jeffrey Miller is passionate about teaching UAS and geospatial and brings over a decade of experience working in the drone industry. Jeffrey’s interest in UAS began in 2013 when he started doing research for his master’s thesis about drone mapping with an iPhone camera. His blog, iphonedroneimagery.com, chronicles that research. 
 
Jeffrey began teaching drone technology in 2017 where he started a drone program at Los Medanos College in the Bay Area. He has developed and taught courses on FAA P107, drone photography and video acquisition, drone mapping, and advanced drone applications. His specialty is mapping and surveying which enables him to provide practical experiences to his students. He has also taught geography courses as an adjunct at various Northern California institutions. 
 
Jeffrey earned a bachelor’s degree in Geography from California State University Fresno, and his master’s in Geography from Cal State East Bay. He is currently pursuing a PhD in land survey engineering from the University of Maine. 
 
In his free time, Jeffrey enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons at amusement parks, afternoon movies, attending pro wrestling events and football games, and building castle themed legos.
